Dr. Axay Kalathia

Dr. Kalathia was born in India and raised in New Jersey from the age of 6. He received his Liberal Arts degree from Rutgers University in 1987, graduating Magna Cum Laude. He went on to Rutgers University-New Jersey Medical School, graduating at the top of his class, receiving several honors, awards, and scholarships including Junior Alpha Omega Alpha distinction and Sigma Chi membership. He completed his General Surgery Internship and Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery Residency at Albany Medical Center in New York, where he received awards for his research in Head and Neck Cancer surgery, as well as recognition for regional and national presentations.


He is board certified and has been practicing Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery at ENT Associates of Manatee since 1996. Over the years he has been involved with the American Academy of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck surgery, American Academy of Otolaryngic Allergy, American Academy of Facial and Plastic Reconstructive Surgery, the Manatee Medical Society and the Florida Society of Otolaryngology. He is actively involved in teaching medical students and residents.


Dr. Kalathia's areas of expertise include office based sinonasal surgery and head and neck surgery. He was one of the first surgeons in Florida to offer in-office image guided balloon sinuplasty, FESS and endoscopic septoplasty. He was one of the first surgeons in Florida offering Trans Oral Robotic Surgery for throat cancers and sleep apnea. He also specializes in thyroid and parathyroid surgery, utilizing ultrasound guided procedures and minimally invasive techniques. 


Dr. Kalathia is affiliated with Manatee Memorial Hospital, Blake Medical Center, Sarasota Memorial Hospital, and Manatee Surgical Center.


He enjoys spending time with his family, playing tennis, and volunteering to teach and treat underserved populations both in the community and internationally.
